Chantal (Lackey) Reed, PhD
Director, CMC Project Management, Gossamer Bio
Chantal Reed, PhD, is the Director of CMC Project Management at Gossamer Bio. She is the course chair for “Dosage Forms and Drug Delivery Systems” in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and holds the position of Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor, Non-Salaried. She recently joined Gossamer Bio as Director of CMC Project Management at Gossamer Bio. She was previously an independent consultant in Pharmaceutical Development, specializing in technical report writing, data auditing, experimental design and set up, literature reviews and feasibility study design. She has also worked at Ionis Pharmaceuticals, in Pharmaceutical Development, where her focus was on pharmaceutical R & D and product quality in the area of drug delivery and product quality for antisense oligonucleotides. She performed formulation research to qualify new dosage forms appropriate for specific therapeutic indications and routes of administration, including novel (liposomal and polymeric) dosage forms, aseptically prepared parenteral solutions and nasal sprays. Prior to this, she was responsible for validation of lead oligonucleotides, including optimization of transfection conditions in new and difficult cell types, including primary cells, investigating cell-type specific parameters which affect the efficiency of in vitro transfection, and effectively communicating protocols to corporate partners.
Dr. Reed received her bachelor’s degree in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University, and her PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Washington. Her doctoral work focused on the complexation of synthetic, pH-responsive polymers with proteins in order to enhance the endosomal release of targeted biomolecules, thereby increasing their therapeutic efficacy.
