Andrew Willeford, PharmD, PhD is a practicing pharmacist specializing in heart failure medicine at UC San Diego Health. His PhD focused on cardiovascular cell signaling and paved the way for his current research focus on multidisciplinary models in cardiovascular clinical outcomes. He has published on a model that aimed to improve rates of medication errors in hospitalized patients taking direct oral anticoagulants and is a principal investigator on studies evaluating the impact of a pharmacy-led heart failure medicine titration clinic on outcomes for patients with heart failure. Dr. Willeford also has a keen interest in the operationalization of medication prescribing for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy of which he has been invited as a speaker at the national level to assist other health institutions in the creation of their workflow.
